Towards the end, John Fogerty came out with others to play and he was playing a MM JP6... the real deal!

the grammys are so whack. i mean whatever they can have all the categories they want and award the worst people the most prestigious awards but if they are actually going to make a category for heavy metal why don't they choose good heavy metal?????
it seems they just know a couple of bands that are big in metal like slayer and semi big like shadows fall and they keep nominating them. how can opeth never be nominated for a grammy? or nevermore? or anything that we can all agree deserves a nod?
i can't believe black sabbath won in 2000 for iron man? how the hell does that work? maybe they should give the 2009 grammy to judas priest for "hell bent for leather" and maybe in 2010 they should give it to iron maiden for "the trooper" i mean give me a break.

I have to agree here.
Also great to see JP's in action, EB/JP deserves the recognition, it's a great guitar.

Bruce Springsteen with the win? WTF? Also no disrespect to Vai or Satch, but those songs are 20 years old. Should have gone to Rush.

im guessing since metallica was from a soundtrack or whatever all a song has to do is appear on any album even if it's a compilation or best of or a movie soundtrack or whatever and it qualifies.
im not sure i dont follow the grammys but that is what it seems.

Like the Oscars, the Grammies aren't worth squat, in my opinion. In a spooky way, the same can be said of the dollar bills in your wallet. Once upon a time, we could take our U.S. Federal Notes and exchange them for equivalent amounts of gold at the U.S. Mint. If you try that now, they might tell you, "Oh, that's nice. You want me to tell your fortune or something?". But there I go with my tangents again...
I came to the conclusion that there's a bullshit factor at work when winning a Grammy when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica in... was it 1988 for "Best Heavy Metal Album of the Year"? I know I'm close if I'm not spot on. All the same, as great as Tull is, he did not deserve an award in that category that year.
I read an interesting article in the Chicago Sun-Times where the critic said something similar. Elvis, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and several others never won any. If memory serves, neither did Rod Stewart. The Beatles only won eight, and U2 has something like 22 or so (no one has more).
There was a time when true composers like--I dunno, Harry Parch?--would win Pulitzer Prizes for music, and the criteria was much more critical and objective. But even that went sour when Wynton Marsalis won the award. The reason that's a crock is because the award was for best original piece of music composed in that year, and he won his award for a composition that was over a year old.

The first pictures I ever saw from Sonata Arctica also showed the guitarist playing a JP model, although it was Ibanez

That's sweet. There's a story over on the EB forum that he was offered by Gibson to play one of their guitars and he could keep it after the show but he wanted the JP. Cool!

Wouldn't it be crazy to see a JPM on national TV? Everyone's eye would be drawn to it. It'd be like:crazy:

something also to note, steve vai is the host of the pretelecast of the grammys every year, for the past few years now. he's played bad horsie in front of everyone before in the grammy audience before they even started filming the main event.

John doing "Keep On Chooglin'" in 2006. Great performance, shows that he's still got it.
