I feel that my mk iv is loosing definition, lost tightness in rhythms and the solos are not creamy but weak almost like I am playing in overdriven clean channel, besides, the more I turn the reverb on the worse it gets.. I suspects the tubes are worn out but another thing is that I recently converted the amp into a head, and broke one of the tubes druing the process and replaced it... I dont think I damaged the amp, I ordered tubes from mesa and see if tubes are the problem.
My question is: do you think the problem is due to the tubes or the symptoms I just described are related to some other damage? thanks |

He bro,
Try replacing the tubes, then you will know for sure. It is a good idea to have a couple of spares around anyway. Replace one at a time and see if it makes a difference. If there is no change, then I would suggest some expert tech advice. good luck. BTW, try Dougs Tubes, www.dougstubes.com or 516-314-0357, he's a great guy and might be able to help with tube choices as well as specific issues that are tube related. Give him a call.

How old are your tubes and how much do you play your amp?

hi, I bought the amp off of ebay so I dont know exactly how old they are, I am assuming though somewhere around 8-12 months. I did not play for the last 2 months, I converted it into a head this week and when I hooked it up to a cabinet, I thought the sound was really weak.. |
